The purpose of the air network system is to create a significant negative pressure beneath the screen during the operation of the crusher, thereby enabling the qualified fine powder in the crushing chamber to quickly pass through the screen openings, preventing screen blockage, reducing over-crushing of materials, and increasing the crusher’s output. At the same time, as air enters the crushing chamber and passes through the screen mesh, it effectively cools the crushing chamber, removing the heat and moisture generated within it.
The purpose of the air-draft system is to create a significant negative pressure beneath the screen during the operation of the pulverizer, thereby enabling the qualified fine powder in the grinding chamber to quickly pass through the screen openings, preventing screen blockage, reducing over-pulverization of the material, and increasing the pulverizer’s output. At the same time, as air enters the grinding chamber and passes through the screen, it effectively cools the chamber, removing the heat and moisture generated during the grinding process. To enhance the efficiency of the micro-pulverizing system, a two-stage dust collection approach is commonly employed. First, a cyclone separator is used to remove most of the dust and moisture. This method proves particularly advantageous when processing raw materials with relatively high moisture content, as it significantly reduces the risk of condensation that could otherwise lower or even disable the dust collector’s efficiency. However, if the air-draft system is improperly designed or the screw conveyor for material sealing is selected unsuitably, the following problems may arise: After the system has been in operation for some time, the discharge chute at the bottom of the cyclone may become blocked, and the filter bags in the dust collector may become severely clogged, greatly reducing the fan’s efficiency and causing the pulverizer’s output to drop to around 70% of its rated capacity—or even lower. Moreover, the temperature inside the pulverizer may rise excessively, placing additional strain on the motor. In addition, severe clogging of the dust collector’s filter bags (or cartridges) can render pulse-jet cleaning ineffective, necessitating manual cleaning instead. Furthermore, improper selection of the suction port location or inadequate adjustment of the airflow volume can result in the fan drawing primarily bypass airflow that has already entered via the elevator. Additionally, at the screw conveyor outlet, the upward airflow velocity may be too high, leading to frequent blockages and hindering smooth material discharge. Therefore, it is essential to carry out a rational design for this auxiliary suction system.
The main causes of the above-mentioned problems are as follows: The suction duct on the airlock screw conveyor and the dust collector have insufficient cross-sectional areas for air intake, resulting in excessively high air velocities that easily carry away the material; the cyclone separator is improperly selected, making it difficult for the material to settle effectively; due to the relatively high temperature and humidity of the material after crushing, the dust collector becomes harder to clean once dust has adhered to its surfaces; the selected fan has insufficient static pressure. When the dust collector becomes heavily loaded with dust and its resistance increases, or when the screen mesh openings in the crusher are too small, making it difficult for the crushed material to pass through and causing localized blockages that further increase resistance, the fan’s efficiency drops significantly, leaving the crusher with virtually no effective negative pressure or suction capability. Moreover, the design of the airlock screw conveyor is not entirely reasonable; the wind-blocking plates or blocks fail to deliver the desired effect, allowing excessive external air to enter, thereby reducing the airflow and pressure inside the crusher and greatly diminishing the suction performance.
To address the above-mentioned issues and improve the efficiency of the micro-pulverization system, in addition to having a correct understanding of the principles and basis for designing the air network, it is even more important to make the right choices regarding the selection of auxiliary suction systems and their associated parameters.
