A disc chipper is equipment used to produce qualified wood chips. It is suitable for use in pulp mills, particleboard plants, fiberboard plants, and wood-chip production bases. This machine can cut logs, small-diameter timber, and other raw materials into uniform-length, smoothly-cut, and evenly-thick industrial wood chips. It can also process branchwood and lumber. What precautions should be taken when operating a disc chipper?
Disc chipper This equipment is designed for producing qualified wood chips and is suitable for use in pulp mills, particleboard plants, fiberboard plants, and wood chip production facilities. It can cut logs, small-diameter timber, and other raw materials into uniformly sized, smoothly finished, and consistently thick industrial wood chips. It can also process Y-shaped timbers and lumber boards. Disc chipper What are the precautions to take during use?
Precautions for operating a disc chipper:
1. Before cutting, the materials should first undergo preliminary processing such as knocking off the outer skin and air separation. Only after confirming that all hard objects like dirt, stones, and iron fragments have been thoroughly removed should the cutting process begin.
2. If any unusual noises occur during operation, immediately stop the machine and resume work only after the fault has been rectified.
3. If there is friction between the turntable and the outer ring, loosen the fixing nut on the outer ring, adjust the gap between the turntable and the outer ring, and ensure that the turntable rotates smoothly.
4. If the turntable unexpectedly gets jammed, immediately stop the machine. Open the hopper cover, remove the turntable cover plate, and gently tap the turntable’s pushing block with a piece of wood to get it rotating again and remove the foreign object.
5. If burrs appear on the inner wall of the outer ring, remove the outer ring and use sandpaper to smooth and flatten it.
When operating the disc chipper, pay attention to ensuring that the temperature of the main spindle’s rolling bearings does not exceed 65℃. If the temperature rises above 65℃, immediately change the lubricating oil. If the problem persists even after changing the oil, remove the bearings, clean them thoroughly with kerosene, apply fresh lubricant, and then resume operation. The disc chipper should be equipped according to its specific needs. Please read the maintenance precautions for the disc chipper:
1. Pay attention to rust prevention: The motor must be kept dry and protected from water ingress to prevent corrosion of its components.
2. Before each startup of the entire machine, lubricate all lubrication points and check whether all fastening bolts are loose.
3. Pay attention to electrical safety: Connect the wires strictly according to the motor’s nameplate requirements, and ensure that the grounding wire is properly connected.
4. Do not allow metal or foreign objects to be drawn into the feed inlet or cutting chamber. If you notice any abnormal conditions, immediately turn off the power.
If the blades of the disc chipper become dull or chipped, they should be sharpened all four at once to ensure balance of the blade disc after installation. Similarly, the bottom knife should be replaced promptly once it becomes dull; otherwise, the quality of the wood chips will be severely affected.
