Before starting the submersible sewage pump, all maintenance and inspection activities should be halted. Only then can you confidently put the submersible sewage pump into operation. Typically, sewage pumps are equipped with protective devices that detect overloads, leakage currents, phase failures, and other abnormal conditions. The purpose of these protections is to prevent the pump from being damaged—such as by overheating due to excessive current or by water/leakage-induced electrical faults—that could jeopardize the normal operation of other equipment and pose a safety risk to personnel. Here, we’d like to highlight the importance of vibration signal detection. When the impeller blades of the submersible sewage pump become entangled with impurities in the water, causing the impeller to lose rotational balance, this results in intense vibrations within the pump. To promptly detect these vibrations and determine whether the sewage pump is operating normally, a piezoelectric vibration sensor is installed in the pump. This sensor consists of a spring, a mass block, a piezoelectric element, and a base. The sensor’s base is rigidly fixed near the bearing between the submersible pump’s motor and the pump housing, allowing it to accurately sense the mechanical vibrations generated by the pump.

When the blades of the submersible grinder become entangled with impurities in the water, causing the pump’s impeller to lose rotational balance, this results in intense vibrations within the pump. To promptly detect these vibrations in submersible sewage pumps, a piezoelectric vibration sensor is installed inside the pump. This sensor consists of a spring, a mass block, a piezoelectric element, and a base. The sensor’s base is rigidly fixed near the bearing between the submersible pump’s motor and the pump housing, allowing it to accurately sense the mechanical vibrations generated by the pump.

When the sensor detects vibration, due to the spring’s relatively high stiffness and the mass block’s relatively small mass, the inertia of the mass block can be considered negligible. Consequently, the mass block experiences the same vibration as the sensor’s base and is subjected to an inertial force that acts in the opposite direction to the acceleration. As a result, the mass block exerts an alternating force on the piezoelectric element, a force that is proportional to the acceleration. Because the piezoelectric element exhibits the piezoelectric effect, alternating charges are generated on its two surfaces.
In addition, to detect the real-time information of the combined crusher, temperature sensors, vibration sensors, oil-water probes for leak detection, and float switches were selected. These sensors, together with the control circuit, enable monitoring and maintenance of the pump and motor. We also hope that a wide range of users will recognize that during the operation of submersible sewage pumps, the detection signals reflecting the operating conditions serve as carriers of information indicating whether the pump is running normally or abnormally. An appropriate detection method is a crucial prerequisite for identifying fault information.
